B Mitzvah Study

We are very happy to announce our adult b. Mitzvah (that is bar or bat) learning groups that will culminate (but not end) in a great community Shabbat service and celebration in June of 2026.

All are welcome, to any class, anytime. No prior learning required.

Each month we offer three classes:
Class I:  We will learn about the history and structure of the Shabbat service, stopping to meet, learn and discuss important prayers along the way.

Class II:
We will begin our look into the parasha for the week of the b. Mitzvah,  "Shelach Lecha", Numbers 13-16. At each meeting we will read and discuss 1-2 aliyot (sections) of the full reading. Along the way you may find a verse that speaks to you - to learn, to chant, to expand on and write a few words.

Class III:
For music lovers or lovers of learning music!
We will learn the music of Torah reading or cantillation, the trope. Each trope is attached to a brief musical notation, and creates punctuation and even a commentary of its own, as the Torah scroll has no vowels, punctuation or musical notation, only the consonants. It's like learning short little songs that we string together to make meaning and music with the Torah. We will practice on the v'ahavta - the paragraph after the Shema.

February  2026 Schedule

Parasha class III   February 8        7PM
Trope Class III       February 22      7PM

Seniors

The Kerhonkson Accord Ellenville Jewish Seniors meet every week weather permitting. Group members share events happening  in our towns, host speakers, socialize  together and organize donations to various community groups.  Once a month, we lunch out at a local restaurant.

Education

Rabbi Sally offers a variety of morning meditation groups and study groups via zoom.

For further details, please email her at  kerhonksonrabbi@gmail.com

Bikur Cholim Committee

Literally meaning “visit the sick,” the purpose of this group is to be in touch with members of our community and provide help when needed and requested.   In addition to visiting and offering comfort and companionship, either in person if possible, or by video conference or phone, we can also provide rides  to appointments, run errands, shop, and maybe even help with computer challenges. We hope members of the synagogue community will feel comfortable reaching out when they may be in need or know of someone else in the community who may be in need, either through Reb Sally or to the committee directly,  at ksbikurcholim@gmail.com

Adopt A Highway

Our Adopt A Highway group meets in spring and fall to litter-pick a section

of Rt 44/55 in Kerhonkson.  if you would like to join our crew and perform

this community service please reach out to Bob Greenough at

gratefulgreeno@gmail.com.   We work in teams and generally

contribute 60-90 minutes, twice a year.

Next cleanup will be in April, join us !

Book Group

Reading and discussing books can be an enjoyable way to expand our knowledge of Jewish thought.  It can provide a welcoming space to reflect on Jewish life as it is portrayed in fiction and non-fiction books. Most importantly, it is an opportunity to connect with members of our community by sharing our thoughts and ideas about a book shared by the community. Monthly meetings are conducted in person and on zoom.

The book group meets the first Thursday of the month.
