Bikur Cholim Committee
Bikur Cholim , Literally meaning “visit the sick,” the purpose of this group is to be in touch with members of our community and provide help when needed and requested. In addition to visiting and offering comfort and companionship, either in person if possible, or by video conference or phone, we can also provide rides to appointments, run errands, shop, and maybe even help with computer challenges. We hope members of the synagogue community will feel comfortable reaching out when they may be in need or know of someone else in the community who may be in need, either through Reb Sally or to the committee directly, at ksbikurcholim@gmail.com
Adopt A Highway
Our Adopt A Highway group meets in spring and fall to litter pick a section
of Rt 44/55 in Kerhonkson. if you would like to join our crew and perform
this community service, please reach out to Bob Greenough at
gratefulgreeno@gmail.com . We work in teams and generally
contribute 60-90 minutes, twice a year.
Book Group
Reading and discussing books can be an enjoyable way to expand our knowledge of Jewish thought. It can provide a welcoming space to reflect on Jewish life as it is portrayed in fiction and non-fiction books. Most importantly, it is an opportunity to connect with members of our community by sharing our thoughts and ideas about a book shared by the community. Monthly meetings are conducted in the zoom hybrid method that we use for services.
The book group meets the first Thursday of the month.
September 5, the group will discuss A Blessing on the Moon by Joseph Skibell.
The October book is The Postcard by Anne Berest.
We have not decided on a date for the October discussion since the standard day falls on
Rosh Hashanah.
